What makes this service different from the rest?
It is our entire solution and especially our stellar support. We crawl your site, we allow you to edit the sitemap to suit your taste, we upload it automatically and notify Google and Yahoo if you'd like. We go beyond this and offer several tools to ensure your sites health. We take care of everything for you so that you can concentrate on your sites content.

Does this overwrite files on my server?
Because this service updates the sitemap files it is designed to overwrite those files only. The filenames that you enter into the sitemap settings and the FTP information you enter will affect which files get overwritten. If there is a file that you do not want us to overwrite, do not enter it's name into the fields on the sitemap setup page and you will be fine. FTP uploads are an option that ensures that you always have the latest versions of your sitemaps on your site. Alternatively, you may download them on demand from our site.

I made changes to my sitemap that I can't see yet.
Depending on which level of membership you are on, your sitemap will be updated at regular intervals. If you are a free member who has already been spidered, you will need to wait a month to have updated files on your site. This can be waived if you are just setting up your sitemap (new member) and you would like to have an updated copy. Then just contact us and we'll take care of you.

I don't like the pages that my site is showing on my sitemap, what do I do?
If you are new to this service, it may take several tries to get the best sitemap possible. Just contact us after you have tweaked your settings and we will re-spider your site. For those of you who would like our help in tweaking your settings, feel free to contact support.

Can I remove the ads you place on my free HTML sitemap?
You cannot remove the ads that we display on your HTML sitemap if you have a free account. If you are a paying member, then you will not have any ads on your sitemap. Running this service consumes resources and the only way that we can keep this service free is from advertising. If you require a solution without ads, please upgrade to any of our pay plans starting at only $2 and offering weekly spidering instead of just monthly.

Free Accounts found to be tampering with the HTML code or not displaying our ads or HTML sitemap will be terminated immediately. If we cannot find the HTML sitemap on your website with our ads, your account will be suspended.

Your HTML sitemap is plain, do I really need to use it on the free account?
Yes, you need to display it, but it doesn't have to be so plain. We have an HTML sitemap setup page that allows you to paste the code from above the main content of your page and from below the main content of your page. Using this feature allows you to seamlessly integrate the code we produce into the look of your site.

You may use your own ads on the page and do anything you want as long as you do not alter the code we produce for your HTML sitemap without getting our written permission first. These ads are how our free service stays free.

What is a sitemap?
The most widely used form of a sitemap is the HTML sitemap. It is essentially a list of links to all of the pages on your website. The sitemap is used by human visitors to your site when they want a specific page and cannot find it in your navigation. Another bonus of the HTML sitemap is that Search engine spiders, who crawl links to find new pages, will use your sitemap to find links to all of your pages.

More recently, two of the biggest search engines out there introduced their own formats which are fed directly into Google and Yahoo. The Google sitemap uses a dialect of XML and includes additional information that you provide. Google allows you to tell them how often individual pages are updated, how important the pages of your site are (compared with your other pages), and when the page was last updated. Yahoo's version is a bit simpler than all of them and asks that you place each URL on a new line in a plain old text file.

The OPML format has been around quite some time and provides just one more way for your sites content to be offered to the search engines and blogs. Using sitemaps for SEO, you will need to keep up on new pages that are added to your site and enter their information into your HTML sitemap, your Google sitemap, and your Yahoo sitemap. AutoMapIt not only makes this easy, it makes this absolutely effortless. We crawl your site like the search engines do, create these sitemaps for you, then we upload them to your website where the search engines go to look for them.

How much does it all cost? What's the price?
AutoMapIt has changed to a Pay-Per-Update service. I also like to think of it as a dollar-menu of sitemapping! Updates cost $1. The Broken Link Checker and Quality Checker also cost $1 each, if you decide to use them. Updates for the advanced tools are only performed when a basic update is processed.

You can control how often your site is updated automatically. You can also manually request an update at any time.

There is currently a $2 minimum deposit price, but credits remain in your account indefinitely, until used. I also start giving out bonuses for any deposits over $50 making this an attractive price to busy webmasters and optimization companies. You can have as many domains as you like under a single user account. There are no 'secret' fees, price, or minimum usage rates. Keep them as long as you like until you request an update.

Since this is a web-based service, all updates to the system are rolled out on this website directly... There is nothing to download, no update price for better software (only an update crawl), and no software versioning to keep track of. As the system improves, you automatically get the benefits!
