robots.txt

Automatic uploads require that we have FTP access to your website. While this step is optional, it is a central feature of the site and opens many options. It also provides the most hands-free and consistently updated experience.

Hello,

If your host doesn't allow you to use FTP, then any system using FTP will not be able to upload docs to your site. Fortunately, almost any decent hosting provider is able to offer FTP as part of their basic package.

If FTP doesn't work for you, then AutoMapIt has other methods for you... you could download the sitemaps from the Download on Demand page at AutoMapIt and then place them on your server using a file manager app your host may have supplied you with (most hosts do this if they take your FTP away).

Another option is to use a special bit of code in your robots.txt file and link to the sitemap stored on AutoMapIt for your site. The specific URL is located on the FTP Setup page in AutoMapIt along with instructions on how to set this up on your site.

If your host doesn't give you FTP access, doesn't offer a 'file manager' solution, and doesn't support a custom robots.txt file, then they are really working against you and it would seem that you have no way of using a sitemap created by any service.... and probably a lot more that you can't do on their system if this is the case.
